Boys Can Wear Pink 2, Day 6

It's the final day for our tour. I really hope you have enjoyed seeing these boys wear things that they love and not let gender rules tell them they can't wear certain colors or like certain things. Nobody bats an eye when a little girl wears a tee shirt from the boys department, but go try to find a tee for a boy with Elsa on it. Boys think she's pretty rocking just as much as the girls do. I mean come on, she has super powers and can make ice and snow!

Boys Can Wear Pink 2, Day 5

We are heading into our final two days of Boys Can Wear Pink Season 2. I have loved seeing all the great looks the bloggers have put together for this tour! I hope you have, too!

This past September, I made Thomas a cute raglan henley for a tutorial for Peek-a-Boo. It had coral accents on it that I just love still. I really love the color coral and how it looks with his blonde hair. I think it gives this pull over a bit of a beachy vibe, which is fun for me considering I am surrounded by cornfields and cows.

Boys Can Wear Pink 2, Day 3

My 18 year old told me something interesting over the weekend. Remember Blue's Clues? Blue the dog, is a girl. And I knew that, but never really thought about it. He said that it was done to help break up gender color stereotypes. Now, I can't find anything that supports this, but I do think it's an interesting observation. Many children and adults just assumed Blue was a boy because of the color. But Blue is in fact a girl. And, so is her pink friend, Magenta.

I started Boys Can Wear Pink because I can't stand gender stereotyping. Of any kind.
My son LOVES My Little Pony, which is seen by many as a "girls show." I don't really understand why boys and girls are suppose to like different things. Why do shows have to target one audience based on gender? Why can't girls and boys like the same shows?

Thomas sewed those pajama pants himself. Another activity that is seen as a girl's past time by many.

Sew Yourself Some Love

Welcome to my stop of the Sew Yourself Some Love tour! Over the last six months, I have been sewing more for myself. And as a result, I'm finding that I'll wearing less and less of the store bought clothes in my closet. Sewing for youRself means that you can get the PERFECT fit in the style and color YOU want. Ready to wear clothing is so blah after you start wearing clothes that fit in colors that flatter.

I have been crushing on this aqua/mint pastel for a while. I love the color and how it looks on me. When I picked some of this incredible french terry up from Joanns, I knew I wanted an oversized hoodie out of it. Omni Tempore by Sofilantjes Patterns was perfect!!

The Pink Underwear

Today while getting dressed, Thomas told me that he couldn't wear a certain pair of underwear if he wanted to play with a neighbor boy this afternoon.

These underwear.

Color Me Fabric

Have you seen the awesome Michael Miller Color Me fabric designed by Hayley Crouse from Mouse House Creations? It's amazing. To continue the amazingness, Hayley is releasing a NEW line that plays into the adult coloring book trend. I was like a kid in a toy store when I was given the opportunity to sew something with it before it hits the shelves later this month! I could not choose which design I wanted to use! I went with the owls on white (officially called What a Hoot) and I knew it would be perfect for making a Divided Basket from Noodlehead.

I had so much fun with this project! I knew I wanted my colors to be bold and vibrant, so I painted my fabric with acrylic paints in a rainbow pallet.

Faux Layered Shirt Tutorial

I adore the look of layering. However, Thomas is rather hot blooded and can't stand to wear layers. (Any layered looks he wears are strictly photo shoot looks. LOL)
Thomas does like the look of layered tees though, so these faux layered shirts are a win win!
