One Thimble Issue 7: Prince Hoodie

One Thimble Issue 7 will be released soon and it is packed with an amazing set of patterns. I was invited to sew up a pattern to share with all of you and the Prince Hoodie by Tigerlily Patterns was perfect for my little guy.

If you are looking for a quick sew that will impress your little guy, this is it!
Thomas adores this hoodie! He was so excited to see it come together. And with all the straight lines, he was able to help sew some pieces together even. The pattern is for sizes toddler 3- child 12 making it perfect for kids of all ages. And with fleece being the suggested fabric, it's easy to style this pattern for a child of any age. We went with a bit of a pirate feel since Thomas is so into pirates lately. I know it's a prince hoodie, but it does work for a pirate ship captain, also!

There are quite a few pattern pieces, but they are all clearly marked with not only what the pattern piece is on the actual piece, but what to cut from that piece is marked on the pattern as well. And there are notches to help line up the shoulder seams and sleeve seams as well as a button placement guide. Talk about making cutting and assembly easy!!

For the number of pieces, it is a really quick sew. The directions are clear and easy to follow. They are direct and feature pictures to help illustrate the process. There are even helpful hints and reminders like to make sure your bobbin thread matches when you sew your hood lining into place.

The little details in this hoodie are so fun! Thomas loves the cuffs. They have a fun split in them and are constructed in a way that they aren't going to come unfolded and flop into your child's way while he plays.

The bottom flaps are vented giving your child room to move and play. Or sit on a stack of books and read about pirate adventures. ;)

The hoodie is not lined making it a nice weight for a cool spring night or morning. Actually, Thomas has been using this as a robe for the last couple of days. LOL He is always chilly when he first wakes up and has been putting his Prince Hoodie on over his jammies when he wakes up.

Since we are going into summer and I want him to wear this in the fall, I sewed a slightly larger size and it's perfect! And it's plenty roomy enough to layer as the fall moves into winter. I love it when I can get several seasons out of one piece! And ignore that I only have two buttons. I thought I had four that the pattern calls for, but nope. So I did two. But four would definitely keep the hoodie from flopping open.

The hood is nice and larger making it nice and snuggly warm. And what kid doesn't like a good hood?

One Thimble Issue 7 will be released on Friday, May 15 and is loaded with 10 fun new patterns and sewing tips and tricks. There is something for everybody in this issue!
